March 5, 2023–Karen Jonas and Tim Bray have payed the stages, homes and patios of Colonial Beach for years. Last night in Fredericksburg, at venue eleven-eleven; Jonas, Bray and other band members kicked off their new release tour for her 6th album….”The Restless.”
The band, including bass player Seth Morrisey and drummer Seth Brown, played to a packed house in a wonderful venue built into an old industrial building on “Deadman’s Curve” in the city.
The show was anything but dead as Jonas told stories related to her 10 new original songs and laid them out for her local fans.
Reviews of the new album started posting this past week.
“Karen Jonas’ smokey, steamy and sultry voice serenades the darkest parts of your being,” wrote The Amp.
“It’s a gothic swirl of liberation and possible menace, an inexorable pull of tides as the narrator urges us to swim against them,” wrote The Boot.
Jonas said the album was her “starry, romantic, ambitious dream of mine.”
The band will be traveling, with their new album, this spring from Fredericksburg to New York City and to Austin, Texas for South By Southwest. More than 300 showcase artists will perform at the Texas music festival.
The musicians have developed a strong following in the United Kingdom and Germany and are once again in contention for an award or two this Spring at the WAMMIES; a 35-year-old award show focused on artists and musicians in the District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia region.
